As advocates for full inclusion of LGBTQ people in the life of the church, we can spend a lot of energy explaining why the so-called “clobber passages” do not speak to contemporary expressions of committed, loving same-sex relationships. But our desire for inclusion is not rooted in what we think the Bible does NOT say; we want our church to embrace the fullness of all Christ-followers and their gifts because of what we believe the Bible DOES say. As Zach Gleason says, “For those who read the Bible Christocentrically, LGBTQ inclusion is the biblical stance.”
So here is a space for us to share the Biblical texts that guide our beliefs about inclusion in the church. Please read what others have shared and send your contributions to Joanna at peacemennopastor at gmail dot com. Contributions will be posted here in a (relatively speaking, all things considered) timely manner.
